There are some thrush symptoms that occur in the mouth.

These may include the development of white lesions on the insides of the mouth, mostly on the tongue, gums, tonsils, or inner cheeks, and at times the upper part of the mouth. These lesions have an appearance similar to that of cottage cheese, and the victim can be in extreme pain and even suffer bleeding if he/she tries to scratch or rub the affected area. Oral thrush symptoms do not take much time to start appearing, but they can last for a considerably long period of time. In extreme cases, the lesions may also appear along the esophagus, making it difficult to swallow.

New mothers who breast feed may pass on these thrush symptoms  to their babies and should be careful to watch for symptoms during the pregnancy. Thrush symptoms may start to appear within newborns during the initial months and these symptoms can include cranky behavior on the part of the infant as well as trouble feeding them. Symptoms of this infection in babies may materialize in the form of a white coating on their tongue, but if the tongue is the only area that appears to be affected by this coating, you should not jump to conclusion as it may just be milk residue.
